Hi. I’m Thérèse.
This site is dedicated to short stories and other things I decide to write. I’m also including thoughts as I go through the effort of my first novel, realizations, and other epiphanies that may occur to me. It marks the official beginning of my career as a writer. I’m sure I’ll look back in a few years and have some thoughts, but that’s the point: I plan on looking back in a few years to the beginning, and thinking of how far I’ve come.
Wordism, according to my own definition, is the art of manipulating words.
In addition to this website, which I update weekly, I write the origin of shoeism. I started blogging on blogger in 2004, for fun. And probably also because of peer pressure at the time, who knows. Although I originally thought of it as a fad that would fade, seems I never got around to stopping myself. Lots of silly stuff there. Photos (like this one of me climbing what felt like a cliff), conversations recounted so that I’ll recall them (example), things I’m thinking (example), adventures (or, what I call adventures), and the general nonsense that I like to share with the whole of the Internet. Sometimes, a bit of the more serious finds its way there.
The nutshell is that I took engineering in university, then worked as an engineer for a while, then realized that the reason I was not satisfied in any engineering job I took was because I’m not actually supposed to be an engineer; I’m a writer. Always have been. It is now “someday” and I’m through stalling.
So here I am, in an effort to concentrate the smattering of writing that seems to seep out of me, no matter where or when or how I am. A writer writing about writing, among other things.
I’m excited.
